Let's celebrate Jesus the King!
At the center of congregational life is the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Regular worship services are held each
Sunday at 11 a.m., characterized by evangelical, Biblical preaching. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is administered
monthly (except during July), usually on the first Sunday of the month. The Sunday morning worship service reflects a blend of
traditional and gospel hymns and both classic and modern anthems by the Olivet Covenant Choir.
The choir sings every week during the program year, and there is special music by soloists each week as well as
throughout the summer months when the choir is on hiatus. For many of our members and friends, the two favorite worship
services of the year are the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service and the combined Maundy Thursday/Tenebrae service with
Communion, held on Maundy Thursday at 8 p.m.
Unlike most churches which have Sunday School prior to the worship service, at Olivet Covenant Sunday School is held after
worship. In between worship and Sunday School each week there is a coffee hour and time of fellowship which gives members
the opportunity to take a break from our hectic schedules and catch up with each other's lives.
In addition to regular Sunday worship, a variety of special programs are offered throughout the year. The focus of these
programs varies, and may include themes such as a missionary speaker, a hymn sing, a movie night or a special choir concert.
Small Groups meet at the church weekly (usually either Tuesday or Wednesday nights) during the fall and spring semesters.
One group is an inductive Bible Study, covering various books of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. Courses such as
Alpha and Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life have also been popular. Both groups encourage discussion and
include prayer at the end of the evening. The groups start out the evening together with coffee and dessert at 7 pm (for those
who are able to come at that time) followed by study at 7:30. For the current schedule, please call the church office.
Other special events that mark congregational life include the annual Anniversary Homecoming Service on the second Sunday
in November; church picnics at the beginning and end of each program year; the Choir’s annual Christmas Concert; Christmas
Caroling in the neighborhood and activities such as Pumpkin Carving and our annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale, held in the
parking lot each year on the Saturday prior to Mother’s Day. These programs help us to reach out and get to know neighbors
and friends in the Art Museum neighborhood around the church.
We welcome one and all to join us for worship and fellowship and the blessings of being part of God's family at Olivet Covenant
