In this age of diverse beliefs and practices (even among churches sharing a common
name and heritage) it is important to make clear what we believe here at Olivet-Covenant
Presbyterian Church. Our doctrinal position is set forth in The Westminster Confession or
Faith, which we believe contains the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures. But
while The Westminster Confession is an excellent summary of Biblical teaching, it is too
long to serve as a brief statement. Consequently, we set forth the following as particularly
We believe that the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, is God's
written and inspired Word, without error in its original manuscripts.
We believe that God created a good and perfect world, but that as a
consequence of the sin of out first parents that world now lies under God's
We believe that all people are sinful and unable to seek after or please God
by their own efforts and apart from his gracious initiative.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the unique Son of God who gave his life as an
atoning sacrifice for sinners. There is no salvation for anyone apart from faith
We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who savingly and effectively draws people to
Jesus Christ, enables them to repent and believe in him, and preserves them
in all godliness and righteousness.
We believe that Jesus calls all who would follow him to a life of personal
We believe that the church is the communion of those who confess Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior in worship, fellowship and witness.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally to judge all people, to
gather all true believers and to bring to fulfillment his eternal plan and purpose
